Chewy granola protein bars - no baking necessary

This blog post is short & sweet
Im writing this straight from my phone, along with the pictures attached

I posted this picture on instagram & twitter
With everyone asking for the recipe
I thought why not put it on my blog, here it is

These chewy bars are great for someone that's working out
& needs a high protein snack, containing healthy goodness.
Instead of caving in for that bar of chocolate
Or constantly chewing on some chicken to get your protein levels up

My reason for making these bars...
I recently joined the gym to help with my unhealthy lifestyle & to tone areas.
I do some cardio but allot of weights, squats etc.
I do not want to loose weight so I do less cardio (ie. Running on thread mil)
Doing allot of weights or pushing yourself to the max can put strain on muscles causing them to tear. Very small fibres can rip.
Giving that horrible pain, usually preventing you from working out a day or so after.
To help repair these muscles, the body needs protein
& these bars can give you some of that, without having to eat the boring stuff all the time.
Being honest i could have gotten healthier ingredients & even higher in protein, lower in fats/sugars kinda foods but this is already a big step for me. So choose what suits.

● 1 cup - oats
● 1 cup - any combination:
Granola, dried fruits, sunflower, pumpkin, flax seeds, wheat, rye etc.
● 1/4 cup of honey
● 1/2 cup of peanut butter
● tbs of coconut oil if you want
(You could probably add some protein powder if you lower the amount of oats)

Begin by adding; honey, peanut butter & oil to pot
Stir on a very low heat, until ingredients have melted together.
Next add in the rest of your ingredients
Combining the oats, granola, etc. with the honey & peanut butter
Doing this while it's on a very low heat will help move the mixture
Transfer your mixture into a baking tin (9" square approx)
Lined with baking paper (no need to grease tin)
*Tip I like to leave one side of the baking paper longer in length, so it's simple to lift the hardened mixture out of the tin when ready

Pop in the fridge to cool for about 2hours

Lift the mixture from the baking tray by the sides of the baking paper
Remove the now, set mixture from the fridge to cut into slices/squares
Before it has fully hardened
Peel the paper from the sides so you can begin cutting the large square into equal bars
Use a large sharp knife to evenly cut the hardened mixture into rectangular bars
The baking paper will make it easy to slide the flat of the knife under the slice, lifting it onto the tin foil or what you'll be wrapping them in
I like to place the individual slices into tin foil to keep the bars fresh
You will get 8 bars from this mixture
Finally I fold the tin foil around the bars & place them back in the fridge to store

Great snack for when you come out of the gym & you're starving
You can just throw one in your gym bag on your way out the door

Full of healthy ingredients & protein

Thanks for stopping by..
I also have a healthy protein smoothie recipe, let me know on

Topshop - Highlighter: Crescent moon

This highlighter is from Topshop's Make up line.
It's one of two shades.

Mine is in: Crescent moon
This particular shade is best suited for pale-medium skin tones.
Hihglighter is designed to highlight areas
& bring radiance to the skin, where it's placed.

The other shade is called: Sun beam
It's more of a golden tone & best suited for medium-dark skin tones.
Basic packaging with no Mirror.
Contains: 6.5grams / 0.22oz
Can be found in most Topshop outlets.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find it on their online store,
hopefully they will begin selling it there too.
This highlighter reminds me of Mac's mineralize skin finishes (MSF's)
by the look & consistency of the product.

A dense, nicely pigmented powder with no chalkiness that is soft to the touch.
Can be used wet or dry.
Using a product like fix+ from mac will give a less powdery finish with high pigmentation.
A little product goes a long way.
A light Opel pink, pearl finish which compliments nearly all skin tones.
Can be used on the Face or Body to enhance areas & give illusion of light.
Perfect for inner corner of the eye, brow bone, cheek bones, cupids bow, collar bones etc.
The compact is the same size as a regular powder compact from most brands.
In it's compact, it doesn't look like much..
It may even look like a regular face powder with shine, however..
Swatched it is beautiful!
It actually sits even nicer on top of cream products/foundation.
Using it with a mixing medium or wet,
will condense the amount of powder in the product down,
turning it into more of a paste, for extra dimension & high shine
Above, I used crescent moon on top of Tom ford's cream highlight (which is unreal by the way)
& my skin nearly looked wet it was so radiant & glowing.
I personally think it's nice to have a glow in areas of your skin,
so it doesn't look dull, matte or cakey.
Sometimes the more matte you set your skin the more makeup/powder it looks like you have on,
in my opinion.
A nice sized brush to apply it, depending on what finish you're looking for
is the Sigma F64: 'Shop here'

Would I repurchase this Topshop highlighter, in the shade: Crescent moon?

Thanks for stopping by...

Invisalign -

Invisalign also known as 'clear braces' are hugely popular for all the right reasons.
Of course there are other options of braces available on the market.
However after going ahead with Invisalign at Dental options - Clane
I have lots of information on them, my own personal opinions & experiences, you may find very helpful when deciding what to do about your smile.

As you may know I'm a Beauty guru & Make up artist.
I'm up close & personal with people everyday.
Filming videos & been on camera in HD will show up all your flaws.
Giving people a chance to recognise imperfections even more than they could do, in person.

In the past my teeth didn't bother me because they had only minor problems.
However overtime teeth can become worse & as you get wisdom teeth or movement happens, this can cause over lapping etc.
I also found that I was talking all about beauty related things
& a nice smile is one of the most beautiful things a person can have.

I began to look more & more at my teeth in pictures & in editing.
Then realised, they where actually taking away from make up looks I spent so long creating.

Why choose Invisalign?
Well I think its fairly obvious...
Because they're clear you can go about your day/night
without people noticing you're in the process of straightening your teeth.
Unlike fixed braces 'train tracks' you can take your aligner in & out.
However, it is recommended that you wear your aligner as much as possible,
to achieve the best & quickest results.
I feel like it is easier to see your teeth changing & moving as your able to pop the full aligner out.
If you have a big event in the process of fixing your smile you can remove the aligner for pictures etc.
Also because you take the aligner out when eating there is no chance of it being stained.
With train tracks you are advised not to eat curry or sauces that could lead to staining your brace & make your teeth look yellow.
With Invisalign, I drink & eat what I like, which is great.

What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a virtually invisible method of straightening your teeth. You will be fitted with a clear plastic aligner, that has been designed & molded to fit & correct your teeth.
When you go in to get fitted for your aligners your dentist is able to show you a computer generated 3D model of your teeth, which shows what your teeth could look like at the end of the treatment.
I think its amazing that they can actually show you the final result before you begin treatment.
 Something I've never seen before.

What is an Aligner?
An aligner is a piece of clear plastic that has been designed by a computer & comes in a range of different shapes to fit specifically for your teeth only.
Your aligners are made by impressions of your teeth, these are scanned, uploaded onto a computer & that’s how they get the 3D model of your teeth.
The aligner sits tight against your teeth only, it does not cover your gums.
It is cut exactly to the same shape as your teeth & gums to make it less visible.
Depending on how long your treatment is for, will depend on how many aligners you will get.
Above you can see my lower aligner.
From left, you can see the bottom of the aligner which is the bottom shape of my teeth, shaping around my gums.
Right, you can see that"s the top of my teeth.
This is pushed down over the top of your teeth & fits flush.
Some teeth may have small attachments stuck onto your teeth which are also invisible & tiny.
These hold the aligner in place, also helping to pull your teeth in the direction they need to be, for straightening.

How often do do you change your Aligners?
The normal required time to change your aligners is every 2 weeks, unless instructed otherwise by your dentist.
At the start of the 2 weeks the aligners can be tight & then they gradually loosen as your teeth are pushed into the next position. This happens every time you put in a new aligner.
I recommend that when you are due to change to your next aligner, do it before you go to bed so you have a few hours before you need to take It out again.

How many Aligners do you get?
For my treatment I have received 16 in total. I'm currently on my 5th aligner.
This is a great way to count & estimate how quickly your teeth are moving.

What is an attachment?
Attachments are small pieces of clear composite "bumps" that are bonded to the teeth. Your aligner is designed to fit tight to these to begin movement.
These small attachments are also used to hold your aligner in place & pull the teeth into the correct position.
Not every tooth needs an attachment. This will all depend on how severe your case is & what teeth need to be moved. During each stage of treatment, only certain teeth are allowed to move.
When you remove your aligner from your teeth, the attachments are next to invisible.
As you can see from the upper teeth in the image above.
Your aligner will be made into the shape of the attachment so it will clip firmly to the teeth.
In some cases the attachment can be placed on teeth that are hidden, therefore they are completely invisible to the eye.
Here is a picture of my teeth with Invisalign .
You can barely see the attachments & this picture is a close up.
My left front tooth has an attachment & my left tooth after my canine.
You can see they are the total opposite to wearing fixed braces 'train tracks'.
As you can go about your day with a natural looking smile.

I have both upper & lower aligners.
Above, you can see an image of my upper aligner.
You can see the over lap in my two front teeth & were some other teeth need to be pulled back to make room.
You may also notice the areas on the aligner in which it will cover the attachments on my teeth.
How do you know which aligner to use next?
Above you can see small text placed on each aligner.
Each stating what stage its for & if its for upper or lower.
This specific aligner is for L(lower) 04 (meaning it is my forth aligner for my lower teeth)
These all come in individual sealed packets so you don't get mixed up.
Above, this packet states; I'm opening my fifth aligner out of 16 in total.
This packet contains upper & lower.
So its a super easy plan to follow & if your traveling you can throw the next set in your luggage.

How long does it take?
It can take from 6 months upwards, this will all depend on how severe your case is.
When you visit clear braces & want to go ahead with  your treatment they will be able to give you an estimated amount of time that you will have them for.

Do they hurt?
I have been wearing mine since the 1st of November now & I'm on my 5th aligner.
I feel no pain from them at all, it just feels like I'm wearing a small bleaching tray to whiten my teeth.
The only time my teeth ever would feel slightly tender is when I put a new aligner in or the first three days of wearing them, as this is something new for your mouth & teeth to adjust to, which is totally normal.
I wouldn't say it was a sore feeling just a little pressure on your teeth, as the new aligner will be tight to help movement.

Can you see results?
I can defiantly see a huge change in my teeth, in my smile & confidence.
When you can see your teeth are much straighter, you smile more & I notice I'm not embarrassed to smile in pictures.
Above, here is a horrific before picture of my teeth.
Excuse my lipstick, the dentist took this picture after I got the molds done for the aligners.
2months into my treatment. Huge improvement already.
Teeth are beginning to be in the right place.
If this is what they look like now I can't wait to see them when I get to my final aligner.
I will be updating you in a video on my youtube channel to show you the progress, results & additional thoughts.

Why did I choose to go with Invisalign with
After researching everything I found that are actually Ireland's no:1 providers of Invisalign.
Their website was so easy to view. Along with looking through their videos & gallery of previous clients with before & after pictures. It made me immediately want to contact them. So glad i did.

What is the cost?
The first thing that comes to mind is the cost.
As soon as people see how my teeth have changed & what they look like so far,  the cost doesn't seem to matter to them because your teeth are there for life & they're usually the first thing people look at.

However I know the perfect smile isn't always cheap but with they make it really affordable, as they have simple payment plans.
Depending on what you need when it comes to Invisalign, will estimate the final cost.
All braces are expensive.
However with they come in at about €2500-€3850
There are no hidden costs attached. You must be careful with this if you are looking up prices on  other websites.

Price Includes:
  • All your appointments
  •  Whitening
  •  Your removable retainers at the end of treatment
  •  Patient dvd with the 3D model of your teeth & your before photographs so you can track your progress

Payment options:
There are 3 options to pay for your treatment:

  • Option 1 - pay in full and receive a 5% DISCOUNT.
  • Option 2 - pay €2,000 at the start and the balance after 6 months.
  • Option 3 - INTEREST FREE. Pay a deposit of €500 followed by monthly payments of €250 until the balance is paid.

They have made it really simple. With no hidden charges.
This would be an amazing 21st or 30th birthday present, Christmas or valentines gift.
Or even just a gift to yourself.
I can honestly say..
Getting Invisalign from was one of the best choices I've made.
I don't think you realise that until you make the decision to correct your smile
or you see someone elses.
Your teeth are in your mouth for life, you feel ten times better with a perfect smile.
It's made a huge difference to my appearance so far.
So I hope this blog post has helped you make a final decision.
I can't wait to show you the final result.
I will leave all their information below.
If you're curious...

Review - Bonded Hair Extensions by Platinum

Curious about bonded extensions?
As was I...
I'm hear to give you the low down on & all the info that you need to know!

I've heard all about bonds over the years, all the different types you can get, the prices, some horror stories & people that would never live without them again.

I think all these factors above, relate to different types of hair, bonds
& the extensionist who applies them.

I'm no expert on hair or bonds but I do know,
that choosing a bond that is good will be important to the over all appearance of your hair.
As you want the bond to be as small as possible to prevent people from seeing where the hair is attached & also give you the option to wear your hair in up styles etc.

I think, the main factors to look at when thinking of getting bonded hair extensions are;
  •  The type of bond you want
  • Type of hair you want, length, thickness, shade, texture & effect
  • Who's applying them & what it costs
What is a bond?
The definition of a bond is to join or be joined securely to something else,
usually by means of an adhesive substance, heat, or pressure.
And this is exactly how the hair extension is attached to your natural hair.

However there are many different types of bond, as you can imagine.
Different methods that extensionists use to adhere the extension.

Some preferred over others, some not as damaging as others, some allot smaller than other
  • Microbead
  •  Wax
  • Glue
  • or Keratin adhesive
You can look up more of these methods online
Above, is a picture of a row of bonds in my hair.
These particular bonds are keratin bonds.
This picture is super close so you can see what they look like.

On the tips of the strands are micro bonds, this gives the bond an almost invisible effect when the hair is brushed & in its normal position.
This is because of the professional application used by my extensionist, Onagh.

They are as close to the root as possible which will also make them last longer in your hair.

How long do they last?
This all depends on how fast your natural hair grows
If the application is done well
And if you look after your extensions.
They can last from 3-6months.
Above, is a before & after picture of my hair.

(encase your wondering...
My extensionist Onagh, owns the name/company Luscious Lox
But she is now working full time in 'Platinum hair'.
She is the head trainer & manager there.
So when I took this picture I watermarked it 'LusciousLox' so others couldn't take it)

You can see from the top left picture, before my hair was very thin & uneven.
I did try using a number of different treatments.
Tried getting it cut regular, avoided using heat on it as much as possible but it never grew or thickened anymore than the above picture, unfortunely.

Why should I choose bonded extensions over clip ins?
Good question but a simple answer.
9/10 times you get what you pay for.

Bonded extensions blend much better into your hair, giving a more realistic appearance
because a mixture of tones/shades can be used to blend them in with the natural hair.

Bonds stay in your hair 24/7 unless you choose to remove them.
They last from 3-6months.

Clip ins must be taken out as
1.  They will fall out as there is only a clip to hold them onto the hair, which has a huge weight attached, pulling at the hair.
2. If you try keep them in for as long as possible there is a chance that they could pull your real hair out. As there is constant weight & tugging on a small section of hair.

Bonds feel lighter as they are tiny peaces of hair attached to your natural hair.
Above, my bonded extensions curled

Allot of clip ins are a mix of real hair with allot of synthetic hair running through it.
And others are just synthetic hair.
Synethic hair is essentially plastic & heat cannot be used on it or it will singe & melt.

Previously over a number of years I have tried all different clip in extensions from different brands with different types of hair.

Here is something you may not know....
Clip in hair extensions that state on their packaging that it is 100% human hair.
Does NOT mean 100% of that hair in the pack is human.

It's just saying that there is in the pack 100% human hair.
This could mean that only be 40% of the packet of hair is real.
You need to be aware of this because the rest of the hair,
that (60%) is most likely to be synthetic (fake)
Which will result in your "soft" hair turning to singed, course hair quickly.
Above is an example of a clip in hair extension.
If the wind blows or you haven't got enough full hair on the top of your head to cover the clip in piece this is what you'll see. I also find them quite bulky looking

The platinum hair is soft, thick & comes in a range of lengths.
Platinum uses Remy hair.

Stick to the professionals or someone that is well trained in this profession.

Onagh at Platinum hair is very experienced.
Onagh trained with platinum three years ago & is now an educator in platinum herself
She is sought to be one of the best extensionists in Dublin at the moment.
She was very sweet & listened to exactly what I was looking for from the hair extensions.
Would I reccomend Onagh?
Above, my extensions curled using the wond.
You can see they give lots of volume & length.
Perfectly matched.
I had 150grams of hair applied.

Onagh actually used a mixture of colors through out to add some light & depth to my hair.
Some thing thats great about bonds....
You can add an ombre effect or some light to your hair without having to dye it!

But can you dye your extensions?
Yes, its possible with platinum hair as 100% of the hair is real & it will take to the dye.
However I would reccomend you go to a professional hair dresser to do this,
as you don't want to damage the hair yourself.
Hair Dye may grab & develope to your natural hair quicker depending on its shade etc.

However I did dye my hair with the extensions myself,
as I have been dying my hair a numerous amount of colors over the years
& I've kinda learned allot along the way.
Above, is the hair dye I chose as I wanted my brown hair to have a red/plum tinge.
(This is a permanent box dye)
2 boxes are needed for extra long hair
Above, After I dyed, blow dried & straightened my hair/extensions
I'm extremely happy with the result.
Onagh applied 20inch strands of hair,
as I've always desired long thick hair down to my waist.
This wouldn't be possible for me without the extensions.
I feel very glamors with them
I think they look just as pretty straight too.
I found with clip ins they looked very ratty at the ends & I could never find an exact color match.
Do these extensions damage your hair?
Keratin Pre bonds are NOT damaging on the natural hair
Once maintained, applied, removed correctly & professionally
Your hair still grows as it normally would with them which is great.
Example of extensions applied wrong with bad color matching
Above, a picture of my hair from the front with a slight kink in it.
How do you wash your hair?
Simple. You wash your hair as you usually would
But instead of gathering all your hair on top of your head you just leave it down
& wash into the roots to make sure everywhere is clean & bacteria can't build up around the bond.
I reccomend you brush through your hair before you get into the shower
Just to make sure there's no knots so it won't matte.
Brush your hair morning & evening to prevent the bonds getting matted & to separate them.
I also like to tie my hair up loosely before I go to sleep so there is as little damage to the hair as possible

What do they cost?
Prices vary but this only will range from €200-€300 & no more (with Platinum)
I know that some can be slightly cheaper but this could be due to someone that is inexperienced
Or cheap hair that won't last.
Some places over charge.

When I was doing my research I found Onagh on Facebook which ill link below
I could see very nice pictures of the extensions that she had done, going up on a regular basis.
She also has a great clientele & when I went for my consultation I could see & feel the hair in person. Consultations are arranged upon request.

After care steps are outlined by Onagh in the consultation phase.
She also gives you an aftercare sheet to take with you encase you forget anything.
I guess the real questions are...
Are they worth it?
Would I go back to Onagh at Platinum hair?
Without a doubt.
 Visit the Platinum website here:
Even to wear my hair tied up in a pony tell looks ten times better than it did previously.
You can see my hair tied up on my
instagram: littlekivaofficial
Its super easy to style, takes a lil longer to dry because there's obviously more hair
A curl can last for days with the extensions
I'm so happy, I'm actually so silly for waiting this long.
I spent hundreds on bad clip in extensions over the years when I could have just saved €250 to get these.
Platinum is located just off Grafton street, Dublin.

Hope you enjoyed reading all about extensions, seeing the pictures & hearing my honest opinion

Review - Wow Brown Tan

Use Wow & you're Brown!
It's true...
This tan is exactly what you need to become an instant golden goddess...

I always get asked about false tan from regular clients such as brides to hundreds of followers & subscribers.
So todays the day I share all my Beauty Tips & Tricks with all of you.

Wow Brown is my All time favorite false tan!
I've tried many different brands & formulas of fake tan & for me, nothing beats it.

'Above' you can see they have:
 Two different types of formulas

with three different shades.

DIY "Do it yourself"
Is a lotion/cream that comes in two shades:
or Medium/Dark

 Ready to Glo
Is a liquid/spray tan
With a 100ml of product, its the perfect size to take with you if your traveling on the plane.

'Above' you can see two different types of packaging
'Left' is their older packaging
'Right' is their new packaging

This is a dark tanning liquid, similar to a spray tan at home.
This one in particular is my fave & definitely for the girls that are trying to get a deep tan from a bottle without damaging your skin from the sun.

I will be doing a separate review on Ready to Glo & a Give away in the following months.
Stay tuned to my Facebook page: LittleKiva & Youtube channel: LittleKiva
DIY lotion in light/medium
250ml bottle
  • Instant color guide
  • Streak-free
  • Fast drying
  • Lasts up to 10days
  • Boyfriend friendly scented!
I know that the most complaints about a false tan is the scent/smell
When a tan is developing its usually at its strongest.
I don't believe that any brand can be completely rid of the smell.
However wow brown have done a pretty good job of it!

The scent they provide is actually a really girly smell & doesn't have that tang a regular fake tan would.
Anytime I apply it now, it reminds me of 'Tan Thursdays'
& getting ready for an occasion to look & feel wonderful
One of the best things about this tan is that it has a color guide.

Ever tried applying a tan that is transparent?
Its impossible to know what you're doing & usually results in streaks or blotches!

Wow brown haver that covered.
'Above' you can see the consistency of the DIY lotion & color pay off.
It also can be used on your face & Body
This golden brown tone is suppose to be used as a color quide.
So when applying the tan you can apply it evenly, without over laying an area that you have already done.
It also prevents streaks & blotches.

You put the wow brown tan on the night before 'the big event'
& the next day its advised that you wash off this color guide to reveal your true wow brown tan.

If you are in a rush & you missed out on 'tan thursday' you can apply the tan the day of the event
& leave to develop throughout the day.
After 8 hours the color guide can be rinsed off just before you leave
or if you have the time, leave it for longer for a darker base.
If you are in a huge rush, you can apply the tan & leave to dry for about 30mins or so before getting dressed.
It will develope throughout the day/night & you will become darker.
However the color guide is designed to wash off, so make sure not to spill a drink or get caught in the rain!

*Be aware that your true tan may be lighter than the color guide after it is rinsed off.
'Above' is a picture of my arm with the DIY light/medium tan
before the color guide is rinsed away.
My Tips on applying wow brown & knowing what color to choose....

False tan can be used on very pale to medium/dark skintones
You can use tan to give your skin a light natural glow for the winter months
or fake it with a deep dark tan.
Choosing a tan will depend on what over all look you want to go for.
It will depend on your skin tone what way the tan will develop.

If your skin is naturally pale & you do not tan easily in the sun, false tan will not deepen as much as someones skin that will naturally pick up colour in the sun.

For much darker skin tones, false tan can be used to give the skin a healthier finish & can be used in areas, such as legs to add pigmentation where the skin can be lighter.
My Tips for applying false tan

Exfoliate your body & moisturize well in the days coming up to your tan application.
My day for tanning is '#Tan Thursday' as I always apply my false tan on Thursdays in preparation for the weekend

  1. All week I exfoliate & moisturize my face & body.
  2.  I shower on Thursday morning, exfoliating my skin with a good body scrub or exfoliating gloves.
  3. After this shower I do not apply moisturizer, as this will prevent your tan from seeping down into the layers of skin.
  4. I use Wow Brown on a velvet tanning mitt, using a fluffy brush to buff out any streaks/lines
  5. Stay naked... Wait 5minutes for the tan to set.
  6. Sleep tight.
  7. Wake up like a little chocolate brownie :)
  8. Wash off color guide - (advised but optional)
However to prevent darkness in areas such as elbows, knees & heels
you can apply a thicker cream to that area.
A tanning mitt is essential

However there are some really hideous mitts out there
& to a tanning virgin these mitts are hard to spot.

The best mitts you can get are velvet tanning mitts like the one 'above'
Hard to find but well worth the search if you want the perfect tan.
Google is your best option if you've no luck finding them in the shops.

Most mitts that are cheap, are sponge material & absorb most of the product.
They scrape the skin, giving you a streaky finish & take off what you're trying to put on.
A velvet mitt will give you a much smoother even finish.

* Tips & Tricks
When applying tan try apply it in the same direction & do not go over the same area twice with more product as this can lead to blotchiness.
Try put on the amount you need in the first application.
You can always add another coat the next day, if its too light.
A must have for me when applying a false tan is a soft fluffy brush!
I don't share this secret with many but for my readers of course...

I use my mitt to apply the DIY tanning lotion from Wow Brown on main areas.
Before the area sets/drys I use my large fluffy brush from Sigma to buff out any lines or streaks giving you a flawless finish!

This brush is large enough to be used on the body.
The cream/liquids do not distort the bristles.
